Expressions of Honor

Have you ever thought about what the believers who have gone before us are doing in heaven? One thing we can be sure of is that they are joining the angels in praising God!

The prophet Isaiah records a wonderful scene of praise:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. (Isaiah 6:1-4)

Imagine this scene and try to think about how Isaiah felt in God’s presence. Human words cannot express the glory his eyes witnessed. While we live in a visible, tangible world as children of God, we are only sojourners on earth. Our eternal destination is with God—praising Him. Therefore, praise is vital to our spiritual well-being.

In times of praise, God becomes the focus of our hearts. We see Him as the source of our hope and strength. Praise changes our attitudes and prepares us for the manifestation of God’s power in our lives.

The Bible tells us that praise is a garment we can put on each day (see Isaiah 61:3). We do not have to live with feelings of doubt and fear. We can opt to live a life of praise! The psalmist writes: “As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more” (Psalm 71:14).

Prayer: Lord, Your glory is endless. Nothing can match Your beauty and power. I pray that each difficulty I face would become an opportunity to trust and love You more. Jesus, thank You for strengthening me as I fix my eyes on You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD” (Psalm 150:6).
